You can also update the BIOS using xmodem over serial, if you don't have another CF card. Download the xmodem BIOS image from the pcengines site, instructions are in the readme file.

Hey, so like I said in my forum post, I didn't really have too much information written down, only some guideline notes I wrote, so a lot of this is just from memory. But if it helps someone w/ the steps for [mostly] Windows, then hopefully it's better then nothing. :D

Feel free though if you wanted to update your post to include any of the information I posted, for the Windows variety, however I'd test some stuff first. :D

Clievers - thanks for pointing out the DB9 error, I've corrected it in the recipe. It was indeed a DB9 F/F cable that I used. The most embarrassing thing is that I was looking right at the ALIX when I wrote this recipe. I need some more sleep :-)

Boy. This article would have come in handy a few weeks back. :D
I got the ALIX 2C3 board. I did most of my stuff in Windows (except the serial communication), so I'll post what I did (based on my recollection) on my site, and then put a link in the comments here later.

One question I have for you, in your post you mention for a serial cable "DB9 null-modem cable with a DB9 male on one end, and a DB9 female on the other". Is the 2C1 board a female connector? Because on my computer(s) and 2C3 board, it's all male ends, so it required a DB9 F/F null modem cable.
